DOJ Receives Criminal Referral From DNI Tulsi Gabbard Over Russian Collusion Hoax
The Department of Justice has officially received a criminal referral from Director of National Intelligence Tulsi Gabbard concerning the origins of the so-called Russian collusion narrative. Attorney General Pam Bondi now faces a critical decision on how to proceed with this referral, which is based on a new batch of documents declassified by Gabbard. These documents reportedly provide concrete evidence of an orchestrated effort against Donald Trump during and after the 2016 election.
According to the newly released materials, the original intelligence assessment revealed there was no evidence that Russia attempted to hack the 2016 U.S. election. However, former President Barack Obama convened a highly secretive meeting on December 9, 2016, which set in motion the push for a report that aligned with partisan narratives. Obama allegedly tasked former DNI James Clapper to include the now-discredited Steele Dossier — opposition research paid for by the Clinton campaign — in official reports, marking a turning point that elevated unfounded allegations into the national spotlight.
The DOJ has confirmed the receipt of Gabbard’s referral but declined to comment further. The referral puts several key Obama-era officials under renewed scrutiny, including former FBI Director James Comey and former CIA Director John Brennan. The focus, however, is also on Barack Obama and James Clapper, who are alleged to have played leading roles. Critics argue that Obama acted as the ringleader, while Clapper knowingly inserted false information to weaponize the intelligence community against Trump.
Gabbard’s statement on X (formerly Twitter) emphasized the seriousness of the matter, stating:
“Their goal was to usurp President Trump and subvert the will of the American people. No matter how powerful, every person involved in this conspiracy must be investigated and prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law. The integrity of our democratic republic depends on it.”
She also released unclassified documents that she claims show “overwhelming evidence” the Obama administration and its national security team engineered the Trump–Russia collusion probe in reaction to Trump’s victory over Hillary Clinton. Gabbard argues that this amounted to a years-long effort to undermine the Trump presidency and the democratic process itself.
As the DOJ considers its next steps, the political ramifications are likely to be significant. The demand for accountability from high-ranking officials is growing, with calls that “no one is above the law” echoing across conservative media.
